This 5-Day Journey From Nairobi to Kenya’s Coast blends classic safari, exceptional birdlife, and relaxing beach time into one seamless experience. Beginning in Nairobi, Africa’s safari capital, the itinerary quickly transitions to Tsavo East National Park, Kenya’s largest protected area. Renowned for its vast landscapes and rich biodiversity, Tsavo East offers outstanding birdwatching with species such as White-headed Vultures, Brown Snake Eagles, and Lilac-breasted Rollers. From the wilderness, the journey continues to the coast, where warm ocean breezes and comfortable beachfront accommodation in Mombasa provide the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. 

The coastal exploration showcases Kenya’s most treasured natural habitats. Shimba Hills, one of East Africa’s largest coastal forest reserves, captivates with lush scenery, rare butterflies, and unique bird species like the Crested Guineafowl and Red-Necked Spurfowl. A visit to Haller Park, a beautifully restored nature sanctuary, provides further opportunities to encounter diverse birdlife. Finally, the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, East Africa’s largest remaining coastal dry forest, reveals endemic species such as the Sokoke Scops Owl and African Pygmy Kingfisher. This journey concludes with a return to Nairobi, leaving travellers with lasting memories of Kenya’s remarkable wildlife, vibrant ecosystems, and pristine coastlines.

Tour Details

Day 1: Arrival In Nairobi- Africa Safari Capital

Arrive in Nairobi.

Overnight in Nairobi hotel. 

After breakfast leave for Tsavo East national Park. It is the largest protected area in Kenya. The park is home to over 500 species of birds most of which are permanent residents in the park.  

Some of the birds that we shall encounter may include but are not limited to: White Headed Vulture, Brown Snake Eagle, Lilac-brested Roller. We will later leave for Mombasa. 

Overnight at Travellers beach Hotel. 

After breakfast we leave for Shimba Hills known as one of the biggest forest reserves in East Africa’s coastal region. It is a national significance for butterflies and birds and is home to over 100 species of birds i.e Crested Guineafowl, Red-Necked Spurfowl, Tiny Greenbul to mention a few. 

We then leave for Haller park also known as a bird haven. Host to over 200 species of birds i.e. Goliath Heron, Giant Kingfisher, African Harrier Hawk, Mangrove Malachite to mention a few. 

Overnight at Travellers Beach hotel. 

After breakfast leave for Arabuko Sokoko reserve. This reserve is the largest remaining fragment of dry coastal forests along a significant portion of the East African coastline. Its also one of the most important bird hotspots on the continent. The reserve has a variety of bird species i.e. African Pygmy Kingfisher, Southern Banded Snake Eagle, Sokoke Scopes Owl among others. 

Later in the day we shall return to the hotel and call it a day and visit the beach. 

Overnight at Travellers Beach Hotel. 

After breakfast leave for Nairobi depending on your flight go straight to the airport or spend a night in one of the hotels.
