Join us on an unforgettable 4-Day Birding Adventure from Nairobi to the lush Kakamega Forest, combining scenic drives, serene lodges, and extraordinary wildlife encounters. The journey begins with a drive to Elementaita, where the tranquil lakeshore and the Soysambu Conservancy set the stage for your first birdwatching experience. Enjoy an evening drive spotting Pink Flamingos, White Pelicans, Herons, and Kingfishers as the sun casts golden light across the water. Overnight at Mbweha Camp offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, providing the perfect introduction to Kenya’s incredible biodiversity.
The next two days take you deep into Kakamega Forest, East Africa’s last remaining tropical rainforest. Guided walks along lush trails reveal rare and endemic birds including the Great Blue Turaco, African Grey Parrot, Black-and-White Casqued Hornbill, and African Emerald Cuckoo. Picnic lunches amidst the forest immerse you fully in the sights and sounds of this vibrant ecosystem. Comfortable stays at Rondo Retreat maintain an intimate connection with nature while offering restful evenings. The tour concludes with a scenic drive back to Nairobi, stopping for lunch at Pelican Lodge in Nakuru, leaving travellers with lasting memories of Kenya’s forests, birdlife, and enchanting countryside.

Tour Details
Day 1: Elementaita
After breakfast we shall depart Nairobi for Elementaita.
We shall have a short stop over at the ViewPoint then proceed to the Elementaita, where we shall check in and have some time to relax and soak on the beautiful surroundings. We set out for an evening drive around the Soysambu conservancy and the lakeshore, where we’ll catch a glimpse of some i.e Pink Flamingos, White Pelicans, Herons, King Fishers among many others.
As the sun sets we shall enjoy the golden light over the lake before returning to the lodge for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.
Overnight in Mbweha Camp.
Day 2: Kakamega Forest (2 Nights)
After breakfast depart from Elementaita for Kakamega Forest enjoying the scenic drive through the countryside as we make our way to the unique and ancient tropical rainforest. Upon arrival we’ll check in at Rondo Retreat in time for lunch surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the forest.
Later in the afternoon, we shall set out for an evening bird walk exploring the rich diversity of Kakamega’s birdlife with birds such as Great Blue Turaco, African Grey Parrot, Black and white Casqued Hornbill among others.
Overnight at Rondo Retreat.
Day 3: Kakamega Forest
After breakfast at Rondo Retreat, We shall spend a full day exploring the enchanting Kakamega Forest. Accompanied by an experienced local guide, we’ll venture into the lush trails of this tropical rainforest enjoying close encounters with its incredible biodiversity.
Throughout the day we’ll look out for some of Kakamega’s most sought after Great Blue Turaco and African Emerald Cuckoo. A picnic style lunch will be served in the forest before we continue with more birdwatching and later we’ll return to Rondo Retreat for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Tour Concludes
After Breakfast we will check out and begin our journey to Nairobi, enjoying the scenic drive through Kenya’s countryside. We shall have stop for lunch enjoying a delicious meal at the Pelican lodge in Nakuru then proceed with our journey back to Nairobi.
